The goals of my practice are to help pregnant and postpartum parents explore their emotional distress, learn skills to cope with and manage their symptoms, and establish lasting feelings of mental wellness. Please read through these pages to discover more about me, my style of therapy, and general information about perinatal mental health.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I work primarily with parents who are struggling with perinatal mental health concerns. My treatment approach is rooted in evidence-based techniques and delivered within a compassionate, nonjudmental therapeutic relationship.
Although pregnancy and parenthood can be joyous for some people, for others it can be riddled with anxiety, stress, and depression. It is common for many people to feel "blue" immediately following the birth of a baby, but some people will experience more severe, impairing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
There are a multitude of approaches to therapy. Evidence-based techniques are those that are backed by scientific study and shown to help achieve the goals set out between psychologist and client. When I work with clients, I primarily use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating aspects of several other behavioral therapies.
